Apology
~~~~~~~
Sorry to all the people who downloaded the older version, that blatantly
didn't work, at all.  This one should.  I can't see any reason why this one
should fail; I've fixed loads of stuff, although I couldn't any reason for
the other one not working.  If not; try typing *SHUT at the star prompt;
if this makes thing better, please email me.
What is it then?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This application will only work when R-Comp's official DOOM port is
installed! If you use this with another Acorn Doom, you will soon be in
the company of a tall red bloke with horns and a fork...

This is a early version of WADMan, a copy of the NewWADTools by TiC on
MS-DOS. It is being done as a complete re-write, and will be packaged in
KiwiSoft's Doom Utility Suite.
At the moment, you can browse though the directory tree, export and import
lumps in raw format, and create new WAD files. When it is finished,
you will be able to do pretty much anything with WAD files that you can do
on Domesdos. :) (It's getting there already, I just can't be bothered to
change the help file that much)

I must admit, and I forgive you for avoiding using WADMan because of this,
that this is the largest application on the Acorn I have even written. I've
written far larger applications (including a program similar to WADMan) on
Microsoft Windows, although I realise this doesn't count :)

I was considering distributing this program as Shareware, but I suddenly
came to my senses - I want as many WAD files for DOOM for be made on the
Acorn - All I ask is in your WAD's readme, you say that you created the WAD
on the best platform for playing DOOM on; the Acorn.

About this release
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Because of other more interesting projects, such as Slayer and my BBS Server,
Apocalypse (The Acorn WirePlay, hopefully) I have stop most of the work on
WADMan, but if you want to continue the work on it, please email us at
kiwisoft@argonet.co.uk, and I will send you the source (BBC Basic+ASM) and
explain a little how it works (Luke doesn't understand my source; 'too tidy')
Currently, WADMan's source is about 118k with large chunks of KiwiLib in it.
WADMan was mostly written my me, Rob Kendrick, however, chunks of it were
written by Luke Graham, also of KiwiSoft.  These parts are mostly to do with
menus and general purpose routines, of which it would have taken me ages to
work out my self.
TiC for the NewWadTools, which this application is based on.  (If you've
seen it, you should be able to see the similarity)  If you edit WADs on DOS,
this program is a must.
Matt Fell for his quite wonderful Doom Specs.  If your interested in making
a DOOM editor of any kind, get these unofficial specs - they describe every
single detail.
Eddie Edwards for making the Acorn DOOM better than any other port.
id Software and GTI for letting Eddie and R-Comp create and sell DOOM.
My StrongARM (8 bit) RiscPC that didn't crash once (!)
Those bloddy orange discs that give SO much stress relief!
Also, I would like to thank my father, John Kendrick, for NOT playing
cribbage on my computer when I wanted to use it.
Software used to create WADMan that are recommended
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 * Code written in the quite wonderfull ZAP 1.39b6/7/8/9/10/11
 * Code crunched with StrongBS 2.10
 * Code MakeApp'ed by my slighty tweaked MakeApp2 1.05
 * Code Crunched by BASS's Crunch 1.30
 * Some GFX drawn with ArtWorks 1.62
 * Disinfected from Icon virus is KiwiSoft Virus Slayer (just a little plug)

Code donations and thefts
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
	'X-Man' (What's his real name?)
	For his quite wonderful but horrid ENDOOM viewing code.  I theived
	this from !DoomED and improved it dramatcaly, so that the colour and
	font were correct, and so that it read the data from a block, not a
	file.  I also theived his rarther snazzy icon.
	Luke Graham
	For his flexible but very slow menu and choices file librarys.
	Make WADMan look nice, but thoose choices are FAR to slow.  Speed
	them up Luke, without using string arrays!
	Rob Bennett
	For a very simple string trimming routine from his very crude
	stock control program for Lightning Supplies.
Plee for Help
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If anyone has code (in BASIC or Assembler callable from BASIC) for viewing or
exporting to Sprites, Doom's graphics format? I can't get my head round it,
mainly because I am spending time on other projects (such as Apocalypse and
Slayer). If you have, please email it to use at kiwisoft@argonet.co.uk. I
can't pay you as WADMan and all Kiwi's other software is freeware, but I will
definatly credit you, and send you the source of WADMan. (I hope this is a
good exchange!)
If you have any code for importing BMP, PCX, GIF to Doom's GFX format, or
code for importing WAV, VOC, or ARMovie etc. to Doom's DP3 format, please
send that also, and I will be eternally grateful.

Final Notes
~~~~~~~~~~~
'Don't winge to your friend about this program, winge at me!' said a very
clever person, who's name eludes me.  But they're wise words.  If you find
bugs, want features added or amended, or want to send me money, food
equipment etc. please, please, please email us at kiwisoft@argonet.co.uk.
All new future releases of WADMan will be sent to RComp's FTP site, as well
as our web site.  Other software such as Slayer, DynKill and DeHackEd are
available from our site also.
	ftp.rcomp.co.uk
	www.argonet.co.uk/users/lgraham
Other applications planned to be in the Doom Utilities Suite are:
	A fully functional port of DeHackEd 3
	DeuSF and DeuTex ports
	An AliensTC front end and installer
All these ports are /complete/ rewrites to RiscOS, mostly in BBC Basic, for
ease.  The are currently all fast enough to use.
If anybody wants a Doom level editor, I have this to say.  If I could write
a program like that, I'd be writing a competitor to RiscCAD or ArtWorks. :)
This application, and associated documentation is and will remain to be the
copyright of Kiwi Software.  So there.
Rob Kendrick and Luke Graham are two teenagers from the Dibden Purlieu area
of Southampton, Hampshire, UK.  We would love to here from other budding
Acorn programers in our area, so email us! (We are currently learning C, so
if anyone knows any good books, etc. that would be useful also)
